'She’s always been in our corner’: Hawick mum-of-seven recognised as Christmas community hero

A mum-of-seven from Hawick has been honoured this Christmas after being nominated as a local hero by One Stop Hawick.

Louise Gleeson, a devoted mum from the Scottish Borders, was surprised with a festive hamper and family gifts from quick delivery app Snappy Shopper, after retailers Angelena and Keith Johnson put her name forward for the campaign.

Louise has shown remarkable strength through a challenging year, all while raising seven children, including two sets of twins, as a single parent.

Angelena from One Stop Hawick said: “Louise was one of our first customers and she’s stuck with us through thick and thin. She’s a mum to seven children, doing everything she can for her family and she’s always been in our corner.

“We want her to know that we’re in her corner too. She was the first person who came to mind when nominating a community hero. Louise has ordered from us through Snappy Shopper nearly every day for five years. She’s a great person and we hope this gift puts a smile on her family’s faces this Christmas.”

To recognise her loyalty and resilience, Snappy Shopper and One Stop Hawick gifted Louise a television, iPad and festive treat hamper, chosen to help bring her family together during the festive season.

The recognition forms part of Snappy Shopper’s 12 Days of Christmas campaign, which celebrates individuals and retailers across the UK who make a meaningful difference in their local communities.

A spokesperson for Snappy Shopper said: “Louise has been a loyal customer for five years and stories like hers highlight why local retailers matter so much. One Stop Hawick sits at the heart of its community and its people like Louise who deserve to be recognised, especially at what can be a difficult time of year. We’re proud to recognise her this Christmas.”
