Scottish sports star takes on ‘Supermarket Sweep’ dash at Premier Lochore to support local foodbank
A SCOTTISH sportsman swapped his snooker cue for the aisles of a Lochore convenience store this week to donate a range of goods to a local foodbank after completing an epic ‘Supermarket Sweep’ style store dash.
Professional snooker player Ross Muir, from East Lothian, was given 60 seconds to dash around Premier Lochore, on Lochleven Road, filling his basket with many items. All goods collected were donated to Benarty Foodbank, which supports individuals and families across Benarty and neighbouring communities.
The festive event was organised by Premier Lochore in partnership with quick delivery app Snappy Shopper, with Ross filling his basket with non-perishables including cereal, biscuits, noodles, tea bags and crisps.
After completing the dash, Ross said: “Premier Lochore is doing an amazing thing for the community by donating to Benarty Foodbank. It’s a tough season for many, so I’m honoured to have been invited along to take part. I got to have a little bit of fun along the way as well.”
In addition to donating his entire £200 haul, the snooker star has also gifted a two-hour coaching session, which one lucky winner will be selected for next week. Details on how to enter can be found on the Snappy Shopper Facebook page.
Benarty Foodbank, which supports residents in Cardenden, Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly, Lumphinnans and Kelty, said: “A massive thank you to Snappy Shopper, Premier Lochore and Ross Muir for the donations. Support like this helps ensure we can reach as many people as possible during the festive season.”
The Premier Lochore store dash forms part of Snappy Shopper’s 12 Days of Christmas campaign, celebrating retailers and individuals across the UK who make a difference in their local communities. Premier Lochore offers 30 to 60 minute home delivery via the Snappy Shopper app, available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
