How Kal’s Budgens surpassed growth targets on Snappy Shopper
Kal's Budgens, a local convenience store in the heart of Sheffield with a post office, has experienced remarkable success following their 30-60 delivery service launch on Snappy Shopper.
Within just five months of launching on Snappy Shopper, their delivery service has become a significant revenue stream for the store with delivery now accounting for 20% of the store's income. With ambitious targets set for the future, Kal's Budgens is aiming to increase this figure to 40% by the end of the year.
We recently caught up with Kal from Kal’s Budgens to understand how he has managed to achieve delivery success with Snappy Shopper:
1. Why did you choose Snappy Shopper?
Initially I was unsure if the home delivery concept would actually make any money in the grocery sector as we don't have margins like fast food.
However, after speaking with Natalie from Londis Solo Baillieston, she highly recommended Snappy Shopper for their growth support and their transparency on costing etc, so I thought I will give it a go!
I compared Snappy Shopper with other apps and companies before I joined, however, some companies just let you use their platform and don't give you the support that Snappy does.
2. How was demand in your area when you launched and what order volume are you seeing today?
We have a lot of competition in our area, with some stores doing really well. Therefore, the demand was already and thanks to Snappy Shopper, we were able to deploy a brilliant customer acquisition strategy that catapulted our delivery service - I couldn't have done it on my own!
We are only 5 months in and already doing 20% of the shop turnover through home deliveries without losing any in-store business, making all of the Snappy Shopper business, additional revenue.
I am hoping to get to 40% of shop turnover by end of this year.
3. What are your favourite parts about Snappy Shopper?
The platform is very user friendly and also the back office compared to other similar companies, is amazing.
We are also provided with an allocated contact, who I could just pick the phone up and speak to, either about support or promotions. I can see Snappy Shopper being just as popular as the big names such as Uber, Just Eat and Deliveroo - without their extronate commission charges.
5. What would you say to retailers considering Snappy Shopper?
Without a doubt I would say go with Snappy Shopper!
You will not get support like Snappy Shopper with anywhere else. They put a lot of hard work and money into your store to get you started. No other companies can compete with their level of funding and support.
Conclusion
Kal’s Budgen’s success serves as a testament to the power of grocery delivery for local convenience stores. At Snappy Shopper, we recognise that customers require both value and convenience, while retailers need support to sustain and expand their business. Our low-commission model helps businesses protect their margins and maintain fair pricing for their customers, and we're proud to be working with amazing retailers such as Kal from Kal’s Budgens.
