80% year-on-year delivery growth: How The Corner Stores Costcutter scaled with Snappy Shopper
For Craig Warren, running a convenience store has always been about more than just retail. Since his family took ownership of The Corner Stores Costcutter in 1987, the Mildenhall-based store has built a reputation for putting the community first, from serving loyal regulars to supporting customers who struggle to leave their homes.
The community first mindset is now driving the store’s latest phase of growth.
After launching rapid grocery delivery with Snappy Shopper in May 2023, Craig and his team have transformed delivery into a core part of the business. Over the past year, The Corner Stores Costcutter has grown its Snappy Shopper GMV by 80% year-on-year, with online orders now accounting for around 22% of total store sales.
“We’re a family run convenience store that’s really embedded into the community,” said Craig. “We try to look after all of our customers equally.”
The store now delivers across Mildenhall, Worlington, Lakenheath, Beck Row and West Row, completing an average of 295 deliveries per week. To date, it has generated just over £900,000 in Snappy Shopper sales, while maintaining an average delivery time of 35 minutes.
The partnership has also helped the retailer reach new shoppers, with more than 500 new customers acquired through Snappy Shopper in 2025 alone.
“I genuinely believe we’re only scratching the surface. There’s a lot more growth to come.”
Beyond commercial performance, delivery has become an essential service for customers who rely on it to access everyday groceries.
Delivery driver Marc Boraston said: “It’s a vital service for the community. We’re told regularly by customers that they don’t know what they would do without the delivery service. For some people, especially the older generation, it’s been an absolute lifesaver.”
In 2025, Craig also appeared as a panel speaker at the Q-Commerce Delivered Summit, powered by Snappy Shopper, where he joined fellow independent retailers to discuss the growing role of social media and digital engagement in driving store growth.
Reflecting on the support provided by Snappy Shopper, Craig credits the partnership model as a key driver behind the store’s delivery success.
“There’s been a lot of support, from our growth manager to customer acquisition campaigns and promotional activity,” he said. “It’s been excellent.”
Looking ahead to 2026, Craig has a clear message for retailers still considering rapid delivery.
“If you’re not offering grocery delivery, your competition already is, or they’re thinking about it.
“I 100% recommend Snappy Shopper to my fellow retailers. You need to get on it. It’s the future of convenience retail.”
